The Expressionism of Luigi E. Uccellini

Luigi E. Uccellini was born in Mortara (Pavia) in 1951. He is in Milan since 1968, where he learned artistic techniques at the studio of G. V. Musitelli. In the meantime, he attended nude and anatomy studies at the Brera academy. Some years later, he obtained a diploma in fresco painting at the School of Arts of Castello Sforzesco. During his first exhibitions the “chiarista” painter F. De Rocchi bought a few of his drawings. He entered among the Milan show set, presented by the writer and director Pier Carpi, exposing in the historical cabarets, consecrated, among others, from: Dario Fo, Roberto Benigni and Diego Abatantuono. The comedy writer Umberto Simonetta, together with the genial founding member of the Derby Club Cabaret, the painter Gianni Bongiovanni, supported him to place his works - besides the collections of famous musicians and actors as Roberto Negri, Teo Teocoli and Enrico Beruschi – as well in the Visconti Di Modrone painting collection alongside several masterpieces of the Renaissance and Impressionism. Reviewed on the main art catalogues, news papers and magazines from the art critic Mario Pancera and Mario Monteverdi. He founds with other artists the movement “Continuazione” that will culminates in exhibitions with concerts held at the “Sala Appiani” of the “Arena” of Milan. Since 1979 he exhibits his works more and more frequently in prestigious Hotels, collaborating thru the realisation of advertising drafts and lithographies. In the productions of the seventies and eighties, the Renaissance interests fused in realism, soaked in naturalism until impressionism; in those of the nineties in the vanguards of the beginning of the twentieth century, until the actual phase in which the desired chromatic-expressive transcendence becomes steady apogee. For further biographical information see the catalogue.
